On The Idiom “Yüzü Açilmiş” In Classical Turkish Poetry
Idioms and proverbs are the most important language treasures of societies. The idioms, which are language associations of at least two words, add richness to the expression and reflect the cultural dynamics, life, and beliefs of the society to which they belong. When the idioms in a language are examined, information about the value judgments of the society can be obtained. Some of the idioms have been transferred to the present day by transferring them from language to language, and some of them have been forgotten by staying in the pages of literary works and thus have fallen out of use. Some idioms have been changed in terms of discourse and meaning as they are transferred from generation to generation. It is possible to follow the development of idioms in historical texts in literary texts. Classical Turkish literature texts are very rich sources in this respect.
