Abstract
Nef’î Follower Ali Hâdî Okan and His Work Called Sihâm-ı Kazâ-yı Zamân
Throughout the six centuries when classical Turkish
poetry was performed, many poets have risen and the
influence of some poets among those has lasted for
centuries beyond their lifetimes. Nef’î is one of those poets
who has made his mark on the 17th century and developed
his unique style. Poets who follow his individual strong
style has started an ecole. In this context, many literary
historians have expressed that Nef’î is a poet with an ecole.
One of the followers of Nef’î is Ali Hâdî Okan (1901-
1980). The poet identifies with Nef’î so much that he uses
the assumed name Nef’î-i Zamân and he names one of his
works as Sihâm-ı Kazâ-yı Zamân inspiring from Nef’î’s
work; Sihâm-ı Kazâ. The poet who didn’t hesitate to write
about the negativities and injustices of his time and not
afraid to criticize directly by addressing names, has tried
to show he is a poet of courage just like Nef’î and followed
Nef’î’s footsteps in the field of satire.
In this study, the extant influence of Nef’î was studied
in the focus of Ali Hâdî and his works. The influence of the
art features of Nef’î in Ali Hâdî’s work called Sihâm-ı
Kazâ-yı Zamân was presented and examples from each poet’s works were given in comparison. In the attachment
of the essay, the translated script of Sihâm-ı Kazâ-yı
Zamân by Ali Hâdi, published in 1340 (1924) was made
available to researchers.
