Abstract
16th Century Poet Kadiri and Ghazals
Some divan poets could not compile their poems and convert them into divan. These poets' names, countries, professions, etc. are known thanks to tazhkira and mecmuas, and their poems reach today through these sources. The sixteenth-century divan poet, Kadirì, whom tazhkira writers talked about him with praise, does not have a divan that compiles his poems. In this study, the ghazals titled "Gazeliyyat-ı Kadirì" on pages 127, 128 and 129 of a mecmua registered in Ankara National Library Manuscripts Collection 06 Mil Yz A 8855/4 and -ghazals of Kadirì in other mecmuas were brought together. Critical texts of these ghazals were given and prose translations were made. Information about the life and literary personality of Kadirì was compiled in the Nazirah magazines, which contain biographical information in the titles.
Kadirì, whose 27 ghazals were identified, only 8 of them are substratum poems. 103 nazirah were written to his substratum poems. In this study, it was informed if the poems are ghazals or substratum poems before their translation into contemporary Turkish. Under the Kadirì's nazirah, it was written which poet he emulates, the last couplet of the ghazal he emulates to, and under his substratum poems, the number of the nazirah written for his poems and names of the poets of nazirah were written. Thus, while reading the ghazals of Kadirì, it will be seen that which poets he emulates or which poets emulate him. In the headings of the footnotes of ghazals, the place was written if the ghazal was found in the writing, or if it was identified from the mecmuas, the number of the ghazal in the mecmua was written. Information given such as his name, occupation and the period he lived before the ghazals of Kadirì in the mecmuas were written in the footnote in transcriptions.
