Abstract
Journal of Musammat no “T 5480” That is Registered in Library of Rare Books at Istanbul University and Classification to MESTAP
Apart from divans and masnavis, one of the most
important works is journals in the tradition of classical
Turkish literature. Journals that have different features in
terms of form, contents and langue are pretty important
since they involve some poems of the poets which are not
available in their divans, poems of the poets of whose lives
are not mentioned in the literature, and certain books of
which any copy is not available.
Journals that are also important in reflecting
sense of poem of the period when they were written are
different in terms of formation and contents by considering
form and type of verse of the poems depending on personal
choice of the compiler. There are journals including certain
poems written by certain types of verse as well as some
poems which were written generally in different forms and
types of verse. One of these kinds of journals has been
registered with no T 5480 in Library of Rare Books at
Istanbul University.
369 poems belonging to 175 different poets are
available in this journal in which poems written by
musammat style (known as a type of poetry) have been
compiled. This journal that was organized in the first
quarter of 17th century and that was in 201 foils is highly important since it includes poems of famous poets which
are not available in the current divans and also poems of
many unknown poets.
In this study, you will be informed on form and contents
of this journal of musammat that is rare in out literature
and the work will be evaluated in some respects.
