Abstract
Customs and Traditions in the Emrî’s Divan.
Poets cannot be considered independent of societies in
which they live. This is also applicable for poets of Diwan
Literature. We can readily state that Diwan Literature
comprises various cultural elements. These elements are
principally customs and traditions of the age. In the
Diwan of Emrî (d. 1575), a 16th century poet, there are a
lot of customs and traditions. In this paper, the customs
and traditions in this Diwan are identified, poet’s conceptions
in relation to these customs and traditions are stated
and these are tried to be illustrated with examples.
Identified cultural elements are classified to the utmost
and dealt with being categorized under certain titles.
