Abstract
Military Strategy Of European Huns And Its Reflection In The Hildebrand Epic
Epics are accepted as one of the main sources of history and provide important information about the cultures of nations. Epics, which have a special place in the history of each nation, illuminate the history, culture and traditions of both the nation they belong to and other communities through the lives of the heroes. Hildebrand Epic is also important in that it is the first Germanic epic that includes European Huns and sheds light on the military traditions of European Huns. In addition, this epic, which is one of the main sources of the Germans who have been together with the European Huns throughout their history, has been the source of the epics that followed and made the European Hun culture and the reputation of Attila echo in very wide geographies. Being able to take part in the epics of other nations with which they are in contact, such as the European Huns, is an indication of having a high level of culture. When the Turks came to Eastern Europe from Turkestan in the 4th century, they brought their ancient cultures and started to shape this geography. So much so that, in addition to all this struggle in this geography, they have always been ready as army and soldier in order to adapt to the conditions of a new region, to fight against different enemies that they encounter here, and to fulfill the requirements of the Turkish world domination ideal. Their permanence in the region was due to their superior military and war skills. This permanence aroused great curiosity in other communities living in the region, and their cultural characteristics and differences made them the protagonists of epics, legends and written sources.
