Abstract
The Phrases Which Describe “Death” in Künhü’l-Ahbâr
The fourth "rukn" of Künhü'l-Ahbâr, written by Gelibolulu Âlî as a Turkish history book, covers the events from the beginning of the Ottoman Empire to 1598-99, statesmen, scholars, mystic and poets who are the main subject of the study. In the fourth part of the work, which consists of two volumes, gives informations about 305 poets who lived at the establishment of Ottoman Empire to Mehmed the III. The prepared study is the fourth of the studies that we tried to publish as a series of articles and aimed to compile the expressions defining death in the 16th century poet biographies and then compare them among themselves. In this study, firstly, after giving brief information about Künhü'l-Ahbâr and Gelibolulu Âli and the biographies included in the work will be evaluated around the concept of death. For this purpose, the biographies of the poets in the work were examined and it was tried to explain how the concept of death was defined directly or based on the elements of analogy, as in the previous articles. The mentioned evaluation will be to reveal how Âlî defines the concept of "death" while describing the deaths of poets in 305 poets biography in Künhü'l-Ahbâr. In addition, the comparison of the expressions describing death used in Künhü'l-ahbâr and the expressions describing death used in Meşa'irü'ş-şuarâ and Gülşen-i Şuarâ is another aim of the study.
