Abstract
Classfication Of Ibb Ataturk Library Journal Numbered “K403” According to MESTAP
Journals are among the important sources for understanding
the Ottoman society. The contents of the journals
mainly consist of personal records or general knowledge on
areas such as literature, language, history, music, sociology,
biography, law, medicine, pharmacy, theology,
astronomy, and astrology, which are accepted as separate
disciplines today. Through the records/information/texts
they contain, they provide concrete data about the Ottoman
literates' knowledge, aesthetic tastes, reading habits,
poet-poetry preferences and the information they need in
their daily lives. The number of journals and the variety of
texts they contain make it difficult to work on the subject.
In order to facilitate generalized studies on the subject, it
is necessary to break down the contents of the journals and
to develop databases that will allow the content to be classified
in different contexts. The reading and classification
of these works that are important in terms of the literary
history has gathered scholars who work on literary history
around the project which is known as MESTAP (Systematic
Classification of Journals Project) for a certain period of
time. In this context, many journals are both the subjects
of thesis and of various studies. In this study, the journal
which is registered to the Metropolitan Municipality Atatürk
Library with number Bel_Yz_K_0403 will be
classified within the framework of MESTAP. In the manuscript,
there is no record regarding the compiler, the date
of compilation, etc. However, we can say that from the examinations we have made on the contents of the journal,
it was compiled in the 19th century by a person who lived
in Ödemiş, Tire, Aydın and probably was a Bektashi sheikh
whose name we do not know.
