Abstract
Translation of Persian Rubais at Cevrî's Divan to Turkish
Cevrî İbrahim Çelebi is one of the poets who produced
works in the 17th century. Cevrî, who is mentioned in the
sources where he had a good education, has a good
command of Persian. There are 37 Persian rubais in the
copy of the Nuruosmaniye Library of the Cevrî Divan,
registered in number 2370. The poet, who was a member
of the Mevleviyeh, frequently used Sufi terminology in his
rubais. In these poems, he sometimes mentioned the
mortality of the world and gave advice that one should
leave everything but Allah, and sometimes criticized those
who thought that he had advanced in Sufism. According to
him, if one wants to reach the top of the Sufism levels, he
should leave his mind and feelings aside. Until now, the
studies that have been done on his divan neglected his
rubais. In this study, the life and works of Cevrî will be
briefly discussed and the place and subject of rubais will be
given. Rubais will be transcribed and then will be
translated to modern Turkish.
