Abstract
Newly Found Manuscripts of the Divan of Fahri and Their Contributions to the Divan
Two manuscripts of the 18th century poet Fahri-i Celveti (d. 1799)’s divan, registered in the Vatican Library number Vat. turc. 208 and Yapı Kredi Sermet Çifter Library number 035773/16, has been identified. The manuscripts have contained a total of 71 poems and 1 “bend” in the types of medhiyye, mersiyye, kudumiyye, tebrikiyye, mahlasname, davetname, tarih, takriz, şarkı, poetical letter and in the forms of beyt, gazel, kaside, mesnevi, rubai, kıta, kıta-i kebire, murabba, kalenderi, divan, koşma, tahmis which were not existed in the Dîvân. These have also included 6 “tarih” lines which unknown/unspecified in the Divan and dates of 5 of them which unavailable in the Divan. This content has contained some new information about Fahri from personal, family, social, professional, literary perspectives; period on subjects such as religious and statesmen, poets, women, gravestones. In this study, it is aimed to contribute to the Fahri Divan and the history of literature by exposing all these.
Except for information about Fahri such as the existence of his son, sister, murid, being deputy judge; information concerning the history of literature such as being the last link of a nazire network of 20 poems initiated by Fuzûlî (d. 1556), that he has another work about şerh other than what is known, he added time and moment information to his tarih poems; and various information about the period toward famous/unknown people and facts of the period -which all these are some of the information brought up in this article, which are not found in the sources mentioning him- exhibits the significance of text publication studies in serving social memory by providing not only literary but also historical, social and cultural data; this exemplifies the source of literature to other sciences.
